Houston’s WORST Movers!

If we could award them less than one star we would do just that! The company is unprofessional on all levels, inefficient and are high way robbers! This is meant in a literal sense!

Upon arrival the truck broke down. While things happen, they used two trucks then after loading had to “transfer all items again to new trucks.” Fishy.

They were very late on arrival to the destination with only one truck of the two. They insisted on the full amount of money being given to them on arrival or they would not start unloading. This is with half of our belongings still not on site. The crew on site fought between each other as the driver stated he only drives the truck and does not unload items. There was no other crew to unload!!! It was a disaster, but only the beginning.

They had no supplies to protect our wood floors. They stated that was not their job! It was a continual conflict between on-site people and Houston company leaders. They deeply scratched the cherry wood floors throughout the house!!! The cost of the repair was $3500. They reimbursed us $400.00 dollars after numerous discussions! Even the person they chose and sent out to look at the floors said $1500 to patch the floor, but warned us they would not look right unless totally redone.

Interestingly closed and taped boxes of liquor never made it to the destination. Perhaps that explains why they were days late to arrive at the destination.

Also missing was a beloved picture belonging to my young daughter. If not enough, the mirror was shattered in the bar. To replace it the cost was $350. The man had to remove the glass and make it in his shop and come back to install it. This glass also has a safety backing since it is inside the furniture. Houston movers reimbursed us $36. They stated reimbursement is done by glass weight! Really??? How does this happen??

Moving is stressful even if all goes well. After all, the company has your life’s work in their care! Houston’s BestMovers made our move very stressful and high anxiety producing. Their communication skills are good when trying to get your business, but fall way below par after the contract is signed.

The above are the highlights of what went wrong. I have not outlined small broken items or furniture issues.

My parents chose not to use this company given our experience. They used a national company, United Van lines. The quotes were comparable. My mother raves about their service, professionalism, and high level of communication skills.

Houston’s Best Movers is really Houston’s WORST Movers and your worst nightmare if you choose them!!!

The best move I had.

Houston's Best Movers are really great movers although I only used them for a local move, you can definitely learn a lot from their professional attitude. I needed movers asap since the movers I signed with hadn't showed up on Saturday. I called Houston's Best Movers which I found on MojoPages.com (ranked #1), Tom understood my situation and arranged for an immediate pickup (the guys arrived within 30 mins) at a very affordable rate ($85/hr). The crew that came was very quick and professional, no unnecessary chitchats but pure work. I'm glad to say that a bad experience ended in a perfect way and I'm very happy that the other company hasn't showed up. I give Houston's Best Movers andTom 2 Thumbs Up !! Thanks A lot.

My move 2018-Extremely disappointed.

Houston Best Movers damaged some of my furniture and will not take responsibility at all! I’ve been very patiently waiting for call backs and Tom is absolutely ignoring me after claiming they would repair my mattress bed. My new leather couch they will not fix or even try to do something. They lost my electrical cords to both my couches. I have called and left lots of messages and texted no call back. DO NOT USE THEM!! My new couches not even a year old! Extremely disappointed and I tried to work something out with them and nothing!!

Do not think to use them.

I was promised to get piano covered 3 time. It did not happen. If they offer you boxes , do not take it, otherwise you would need immediately to empty the boxes on the spot. Do not try to say any constructive feedback, just say thank and everything is OK, otherwise the manager blows away" I do not want to do any business with you.."
We also were promised to get 3 workers not two and a manager.

What a seamless move!

I hired Houston’s Best Movers just two days before finding out that the moving company I initially hired to conduct my move [Prime Movers] in May [for the month of August] was rather unorganized, unprofessional and lacked serious communication tactics. Prime Movers double booked me alongside a job in Austin, Texas on my move day that no one mentioned until two days before my move. At the same time, Prime Movers promised me a rate that was changed two days before my move. The reason I was given behind these issues was unacceptable. Apparently, the office assistant who was booking reservations and negotiating moving quotes was fired and she “screwed up several times”. The owner gave me that story and told me he was unable to accommodate me unless I changed my move-in time. He impolitely suggested I could change my move-in time or just find another moving company. Needless to say, I did just that. I found another moving company and decided not to use Prime Movers. I discovered HOUSTON’S BEST MOVERS shortly that same day.
Houston’s Best Movers stepped right in to assist me at almost the same rate and ensured they were sending PROFESSIONAL MOVERS to handle my one-bedroom apartment move. Tom was very thorough in our conversation about the price, the professionalism and the quality of service I would receive. He promised to “deliver” and he absolutely did with the help of his staff Cory Jamison, Shadwain Joseph, Daren Rodriguez and Marqueal Bass!
Cory, Shadwain, Daren and Marqueal called me about 30-40 minutes before my move-in window of time to ensure me they were on their way. They arrived promptly at 8:15 a.m. which was 15 minutes before my scheduled move time frame. I was given instructions by Cory on how they would handle my move and Cory even informed me that the “clock” started only after I sign paperwork. Cory, who was spearheading the move, patiently explained the paperwork with me and took a survey of all of my belongings that needed to be moved. He then, communicated same to his team, had me sign the paperwork and then they proceeded to wrap all of my fragile items and begin work on the other items for my move (i.e. breaking things down, wrapping furniture in blankets, etc.). This team of men work well together. That was evident by the way they organized the items, worked together quickly but efficiently to get the heavy items on the dolly and in the truck and all the while possessed a friendly and professional demeanor. The apartment complex I moved out of wasn’t the most efficient when it came to how to operate and maneuver items in and out of the freight elevator, but even in that instance, this team of men were patient and did not let that slow down the moving process. My move took about the estimated time and once moved in to my new place [which was only a few miles away] I felt relieved. Relieved that this team of movers known as Houston’s Best Movers got me moved out and moved in and I still had the rest of my day to spare!
I highly recommend if you are in the market for movers to go to Houston’s Best Movers. Let Tom take care of you and delegate your needs to his team of movers – professional, friendly and efficient young men who can get the job done and keep you stress free!

Long-distance move from Galveston, TX to Bakersfield, CA

Long Distance moving.

Horrible service. Terrible communication. I would give 0 stars if there is an option for that.
1) The movers are rude. The guy named JONATHAN is very rude and seriously has some issues. Does not allow the customer to talk. He shuts you down and he thinks he is an expert. Doesn't have commonsense.

2) TOM he talk to you nicely and responds to you until you signed the contract for moving. Once you paid the money he does not respond to your texts or phone calls. It took them more than a month and still did not deliver my luggage.

THESE PEOPLE JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!

BEWARE! Choose another company.

Wish you could give ZERO starts! I had to find a quick backup service as the first mover cancelled days before my upcoming cross country move. Tom replied quickly with a great estimate and promised they could execute on schedule. Being in a bind (2 days before originally schedule move), I accepted the estimate based on our complete inventory list we submitted and all things seemed great. First problem: movers arrived for pickup and I was told their estimate wasn't correct and I'd be paying over $500 more! Tried getting Tom on the phone to find out WTH? No reply. Took me 4 days of calling to connect with him. My experience with moving companies is they are always super fast to respond when they're trying to get your business and once they have you, it becomes a different story. So Tom's response was "the cubic feet was more than we estimated so I can talk with the owner to see if we can credit you some money but can't guarantee anything". I filled out the inventory list accurately and nothing was said about cubic feet so that's not my problem. Of course, Tom never got back to me about his discussion with the owner (probably because it never happened). And what can you do? Nothing. You have to pay the $500+ extra because they have all your stuff and you're in a timing bind and can't find another honest mover at crunch time.

Fast forward to the drop-off. The shipment came on a semi with ONE driver. No moving crew, JUST ONE driver. I had 2 deliveries the week before both on semis and both came up the driveway, turned around in the field by the house, and exited with no problem. This driver determined he was not willing to go up the driveway and turn around. He said he would only be able to unload our inventory at the end of the driveway and it's our responsibility to get it into the house! Our driveway is almost 1/4 mile long! Once again, try getting Tom on the phone. Tom tries making it MY fault that the driver won't come up the driveway to the house! Getting no cooperation, I decide to try and rent a U-Haul to unload it at the end of the driveway from the semi into the U-Haul. Unfortunately, being in a rural area, there was no U-Haul available spur of the moment.

End result: the ONE driver unload all our stuff on the road at the end of the driveway, we loaded it into our SUV, up the driveway, I (with no help) unloaded it into my garage, unwrapped everything myself (because, of course, they have to get their blankets back), and repeat at least a dozen trips back/forth. It was absolutely ridiculous. Once again, NO RESONSE from Tom, no credit issued, not even an apology call. Nothing.

I have done many cross country moves and had some bad experiences but this was BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Steer clear from this company as you might end up paying less but I would have rather paid much more to not have this experience.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Boston, MA

Great service!

TLTR; Great service! Tom and Ron are responsive, helpful and knowledgeable!

Important Tip: Always get an in-person estimate rather than just over the phone.

Detailed Experience:

Let me start by saying that Houston's Best Movers seem to predominantly have the dissatisfied customers more active on the reviews sections. So I felt an obligation to actually be fair and write how great they have been with us and our out-of-state move.

We moved from Houston, TX to Boston, MA. We started the whole process with Tom over the phone with an estimate based on my descriptions before they actually lay eyes on our 1 bedroom apartment. Because of all the negative reviews, I called Tom back and basically voiced my concerns about being "gouged" for money on the day of the move. He said that this usually happens because customers lack the knowledge and experience of actually moving houses so they underestimate their move. He advised that the best way to avoid any confusion the day of the move is if a representative from their company comes to do a more professional estimate.

So I scheduled an appointment for an in-person estimate with Ron. He was courteous. He walked us through the process, he answered all our questions and addressed the differences between the inventory items listed over the phone vs what he actually saw at our home. He looked inside kitchen/bathroom cabinets and closets so he could give a much better estimate based on his experience with how much it takes to pack and how many boxes/cubic ft will be needed. He was also able to gauge the distance from the loading/unloading area to our apartment, stairs and all that extra fees items. We even discussed the drop-off location and how sometimes when there isn't enough space for the 18-wheeler truck to park, we get charged "double handling fee" because they have to move our stuff to a smaller truck that fits the location. He was being very upfront and I respected that.

The day of the move went smoothly. They arrived within the 1 hour window they gave us. They carefully handled everything; bubble wrapped a bunch of things then followed with furniture pads, bubble wrapped and crated our TV, double wrapped our mattress. They disassembled most of our furniture and packed our kitchen's glassware. They entire crew was nice and respectful. They itemized everything with numbers, including any suitcases and boxes we already had packed. They worked non-stop and packed the truck really well and tight so things did not move during the long-distance move.

Our drop off date changed a couple of days from when we had originally planned. But having moved long-distances multiple times before, I already was expecting that. We just changed our flights and booked a hotel for one night which wasn't too bad. Our driver was Jacob. He comes off a little too strong/rude sometimes, but after my husband spoke with him he was very helpful and accommodating. All our things arrived in very good condition, with a small exception of the corner of one side of our bed which had the wood stain scratched off; I was able to completely conceal that with some wood markers. We were charged "long carry" fee at the drop-off location because the distance from the elevator to our apartment was way more than 75FT which was understandable and in the contract.

Overall, I would definitely use their services again if I have a big move. I also think it's key to have good communication with them and voice all your concerns before you sign the contract. Read the contract carefully and discuss it with them. Discuss options for drop off dates and extra fees for different things.

I hope this review helps someone who was feeling totally discouraged to use their services based on their reviews like me.
